The Goiás government has released the final result of the State Food Access Program (PAA Goiás 2024). This year, the Special Committee of PAA Goiás received 2,170 proposals from family farmers in 145 municipalities, of which 1,004 were classified. This announcement marks the beginning of a new phase of the program that will invest R$15 million in family farming in Goiás.
Compared to the 2023 edition, the government PAA has achieved a significant increase in the number of proposals received. Last year, 1,246 proposals were registered, of which 1,060 were approved and 186 rejected. In 2024, the authority received a greater number of applications, increasing demand for the program by 72.56%. Moreover, the failure rate decreased from 14.93% to 10.26%, due to the use of the PAA Goiás platform in the registration and assessment process.
President of Imater Goiás, Rafael Gouveia, congratulates the farmers whose proposals have been approved. “We are very happy with the number of producers who will benefit from the program. This highlights the importance of PAA Goiás to promote family farming and, in addition to increasing producers’ income, it promotes the growth of agribusiness in Goiás,” declared the President.
Moreover, Rafael Gouveia celebrates the growth in demand for the program and appreciates that the training provided by Agro é Social with the delivery of the Social Credit Card has contributed to the choice of more producers. “Many farmers who have started their own businesses will now have the opportunity to sell their products to the Goiás government, contributing to the fight against food insecurity among families receiving assistance from OVG,” he adds.
145 municipalities in Goiás have benefited from the results of the partnership agreement through secret proposals, 59% of which were requested by women and 41% by men. Among the cities with the largest number of approved projects are Formosa (156), Flores de Goiás (98), Planaltina (56), Morenhos (28), Gatay (26). The products most mentioned in the proposals include cassava, cabbage, green chives, green chives and green corn. In terms of volume supplied, cassava was the most mentioned, followed by watermelon, green corn, caputia squash, and cabbage.
According to the notification, the Goiás government will acquire the products through the purchase method with simultaneous donation. Food will be purchased from family farmers and delivered directly to social entities registered with OVG, which will distribute the products to families in vulnerable situations. To implement PAA 2024, the resources of the Goiás State Social Protection Fund (Protege Goiás) will be used, with a total investment of R$ 15 million.
Classifiers should contact their local Emater Goiás offices to set up a delivery schedule and guidance on the next phases of the programme. Check final result: https://www.emater.go.gov.br/wp/resultado-final-paa-goias-2024-conforme-doe-de-11102024/
