Bom Jesus de Braga has installed the first thermal network in Portugal, linked to biomass, with the renovation of the new Hotel do Parque.
At the moment, only the Hotel do Parque is connected to the network, but this will soon be expanded to include 3 of the resort’s 4 hotels, and in this way, Sociedade HotĂ©is do Bom Jesus You will be able to save about 55% of your energy costs by using this renewable energy.
That’s why Bom Jesus Hotels decided to invest in biomass, over diesel and propane, in the first national biomass thermal network.
“Sustainable growth involves the use of environmentally friendly energies, and biomass, among renewable energies, is the one that generates the most jobs, reduces the risk of fires and reduces energy dependence. All this in turn translates into significant economic savings,” says Mario Pereira, president of Sociedade Hotéis do Bom Jesus.
The raw material used to create the biomass is forest waste, abundantly available in the Bom Jesus forest, and the fuel chosen for this installation was wood chips G30-W30, according to the ONORM standard.
Through this network, the Hotéis do Bom Jesus chain sees its thermal needs met through a central unit, with a single boiler, responsible for air conditioning 3 hotel units and heating an indoor swimming pool.
“We have appointed BIOHOT, a company that uses the latest technologies in the production and delivery of energy, which will supply us with thermal energy for 10 years, during which it will be responsible for managing the plant,” explains Mario Pereira.
In addition to the biomass plant, solar panels have also been installed at the Hotel do Parque, which will allow to reduce energy consumption by more than 20%, thus achieving a dependence on renewable energy of approximately 75%, values that are within the reach of few hotels in Portugal.
In this way, Hotel do Parque and the Bom Jesus Hotel Group have become an eco-friendly hotel group, doing justice to the place where it is located, Bom Jesus do Monte, as a green forest, considered the lung of the city. The city of Braga.
