Masdar Future Energy, based in Abu Dhabi, announced the inauguration by His Excellency President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the 500 MW Zravshan wind power plant in Uzbekistan, the largest facility of its kind in Central Asia.

Uzbekistan aims to achieve 20 GW of clean energy capacity by 2030, in line with its broader strategy to strengthen its renewable energy infrastructure and reduce its carbon footprint.

The company pledged to invest $2 billion in clean energy projects in Uzbekistan, with the aim of reaching a total capacity exceeding 2 gigawatts.

Masdar is developing a pipeline of 4 GW of renewable energy projects in its early stages, demonstrating its commitment to the clean energy future of the region.
At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Azerbaijan in November 2024, Masdar and the Uzbek Ministry of Energy signed an agreement to develop a 1 GW wind farm in the Mingbulak region.
The new project will provide 1,000 jobs during construction and 60 jobs during operation, providing clean energy to 300,000 homes.
The agreement represents the first phase of a broader strategy to establish three wind farms in Uzbekistan.
