Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall near Tampa Bay, Florida tomorrow evening (October 8) with extremely high winds, heavy rain, and potentially record storm surge. The hurricane will likely be the strongest to strike the Tampa Bay area in more than 100 years. On October 21, 1921, the Tampa Bay Hurricane made landfall near Tarpon Springs as a Category 3 storm. The state’s utilities have been preparing for restoration efforts throughout the week. The most impacted major electric utilities include Duke Energy Corporation Florida, Florida Power & Light, Tampa Electric, JEA, and Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC – The Reliable One) – there are roughly 10 million customers between them. Fifty-one of 67 Florida counties are under a state of emergency. Everyone in the path of this massive storm get to a safe place.
