The factory in Goiás reinforces the commitment to environmental conservation in the Cerrado region
The Rubi SA bioenergy plant, located in Rubiataba (GO), has reached the milestone of donating 13,874 native tree seedlings and fruit trees from the Cerrado between January and October of this year. These stations have been used to maintain and restore Permanent Protection Areas (APP), as well as support environmental projects, benefiting the community and helping to restore the springs.
With a focus on preserving biodiversity, the plant grows seedlings from locally collected seeds, in a nursery with a capacity of 50,000 units. Four months after planting, the plants are donated and managed differently for each species. Filter cake, an organic fertilizer resulting from sugarcane processing, is applied when preparing compost (soil, sand, fertilizer). However, some species, such as Mutamba, Jumbo do Parra and Ibis, are not well adapted to this type of management.
The factory team makes visits In place To evaluate the soil and environment and choose the species most suitable for the conditions of each area. Irrigation is done manually, with strict supervision to avoid wasting water.
Through sustainable practices, Rubi SA adopts regulated irrigation two to three times a day and uses organic materials in agriculture. “The goal of the plant is to keep the donations as one of the main environmental responsibility initiatives, contributing to the conservation of the Cerrado and the sustainable development of the region,” notes the environmental supervisor of the unit, Renata Battistella.
