In recent years, it has become increasingly common to see houses with photovoltaic panels adorning their roofs, in addition to having various structures designed to receive this equipment in companies, industries or even in public places. One such option is the solar carport, which is an interesting option, especially for those who need to optimize space.
A solar carport is nothing more than a covered carport, equipped with solar panels, which generate energy while serving as a shelter for vehicles. Instead of tiles or other types of covering, photovoltaic panels — which are more resistant to adverse weather conditions — are placed on a structure designed to support them. This construction is also done in order to make the most of the occurrence of sunlight in the area.

224 photovoltaic modules have been used in the structure, which are responsible for generating an average of 108 thousand kilowatt-hours per year. According to the foundation’s director, Rodrigo da Silva, the commitment to solar energy is in line with the company’s innovation principles. “We have always been an innovative company striving to evolve. Investing in PV was already in our plans, but was temporarily halted due to the pandemic. The energy generated from solar parking is used to supply the property on the land where it is installed, as well as other properties owned by the owner or third parties, depending on the amount of energy produced and the type of generation used. This structure can be installed in homes, businesses, shopping centres, industries and parks, for example.
“The demand for energy is expected to continue to grow, while many sources are scarce or polluted. The value of energy also continues to rise. Therefore, looking for more economical and at the same time sustainable alternatives is the ideal solution,” notes the CEO of the company. Grupo SV.
