Energy storage
A simple, practical and highly efficient proposal. Water heaters with tanks for homes!
The most popular water heating solution for almost 70 million homes in Brazil is the instantaneous shower with around 5 kW of power each.
Considering that a huge population of Brazilians take showers at night, during peak hours, it is safe to say that this is the largest electrical load in GW demand in the national integrated system.
Replacing these showers with tank heaters offers very significant potential savings. The math is very simple.
The production chain of the electricity sector requires around R$15,000/kW installed to include generation, transmission and distribution. Considering a 5 kW instant heater, it is a R$ 75 000 investment.
A storage water heater requires an investment of around R$6,000. Plus installation, it can be estimated at around R$10,000.
This heater can be programmed on off- peak hours.
And so the national electrical system would open up an enormous capacity to absorb the expansion of industry, commerce and institutions WITHOUT the need for investments, since a significant load would be released.
