Good coffee, fresh cheese and warm bread make up an unbeatable trio of Goiás culture, each with its own ingredients produced in the agricultural hub of Goiás.
For example, the 2024 Arabica coffee crop saw a 10.3% increase in planted area and 30.6% in production compared to the previous crop, representing a significant increase in crop productivity (+18.4%).
The head of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Pedro Leonardo Rezende, stressed that the rains in March and April combined with other essential factors to achieve positive results.
“We are facing climate challenges, but the resilience and dedication of our farmers has enabled coffee farming to achieve this significant increase in productivity,” he reiterates.
Letty
The dairy chain, in turn, ensured the production of more than one billion litres of milk in the first half of 2024, an increase of 1.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In addition to the product being intended for local consumption and the production of its derivatives, part of the quantity is also intended for export. In this sense, the development of measures to support the milk production chain continues to strengthen the sector in the state.
“PAA Leite, seed donation, and Goiás social initiatives are some examples of public policies that benefit producers of this item, which is important for both food security and the economy of our state,” highlights Rezende.
wheat
Although the climatic conditions in the central-western region are not ideal for wheat cultivation, which is more associated with moderate temperatures, this crop has recorded great success in Goiás.
“This expansion has occurred particularly through research and development of varieties with greater potential for adaptation and production, and the use of advanced irrigation techniques,” explains Secretary Pedro Leonardo.
Cereals are used for bread production and also for animal feed, and their production reached 234.6 thousand tons in the last harvest in Goiás. This figure represents 69.8% of the quantity in the Central West and 2.7% of the national production. The largest outside the South and South East regions.
