The fifth edition of the Goiás Government Publication, prepared by Seapa, brings together consolidated data from 48 agriculture, livestock and forestry sectors
Total agribusiness exports in Goiás reached US$12.1 billion in 2023, equivalent to 87.2% of total foreign sales in Goiás, and one notable product in this scenario was sorghum, whose exports from the state ranked first in the national rankings. In the grain crop, Goiás production was the third largest in Brazil, reaching 32.6 million tons.
These are some of the data available in the fifth edition of Radioografia do Agro, which collects and processes data from the 2022/2023 harvest, from different sources, and is consolidated in 2024. The publication is an initiative of the Government of Goiás, through the State Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies (Seapa ), provides an overview of agribusiness in Goiás, with information regarding agriculture, livestock and forestry activities in the state.
In addition to the highlights of the State of Goiás in the national production and export rankings, shown in the graphs on the first pages, the material contains panels dedicated to general data on the state’s performance in grain production, in product marketing, in the value of gross production (VBP) in exports and in domestic product Total and value added to agriculture.
In the section entitled Agro Logístico, a new addition to this edition of Radioografia do Agro, maps show the railway, waterway and land transport systems of Brazil and Goiás, as well as the national port complex.
Finally, the 48 agricultural, livestock and forestry sectors of Goiás are explored, one by one, with a specific and in-depth overview of each product. Figures presented through graphs, maps and rankings include information such as production, exports, quotes and major producers at municipal and state levels for each item.
According to the President of Seapa, the biggest difference in the article is the way in which the data is provided, as the compilation and easier understanding of these figures makes it possible to expand knowledge about agribusiness in Goiás. “It is an unprecedented tool for researchers, journalists, rural producers and public servants, and can guide the process of building policies that help further develop agriculture in Goiás, and thus the state as a whole,” he adds.
