Facebook and Instagram parent company, Meta, announces it will release a request for proposals (RFP) to identify nuclear energy developers to help meet the company’s AI innovation and sustainability objectives — targeting 1-4 gigawatts (GW) of new nuclear generation capacity in the United States. The RFP approach will drive partnerships with others across the industry to bring new nuclear energy to the power grid. This is yet more supportive evidence of the tremendous push by American technology companies to secure carbon-free nuclear energy to drive datacenter/AI growth. Along with Meta’s commitment, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud have all recently announced plans to secure nuclear capacity to drive their datacenter/AI growth plans. Powering Good!
