Last week the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) released their Long-Range Transmission Plan (LRTP) Tranche 2.1 Portfolio. The $21.8 billion investment proposal involves the construction of a 765-kV transmission backbone to support high volume power transfers. Additionally, implementation of the plan will help solve thermal and voltage violations throughout MISO’s Midwest Subregion, help address wide area congestion, and enable significant new generation to support MISO member plans and goals. MISO expects the 24 selected regional projects will come online from 2032 through 2034.
